Kingdom Hearts 4 Hype Results In "Overwhelming Demand" For D23

D23 Is Being Hit With "Overwhelming Demand", And Everyone Is Blaming Kingdom Hearts Published Jul 24, 2026, 11:20 AM EDT George is the Lead News Editor for TheGamer, and has been working in the industry since 2021 after graduating from the University of South Wales with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. Some of the games George has extensively covered first-hand include Dead Rising, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ninja Gaiden 4. All of the speculation that a new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer might appear at D23 could be hitting the event hard, as Disney has confirmed “overwhelming demand”. It wasn’t that long ago when we were all begging Square Enix to do literally anything with Kingdom Hearts and prove that the series isn’t dead and buried. The past month has really changed all of that, though, with a new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer and the announcement of a Switch 2 port really perking us all up. As if that and the rumours of Sora coming to Fortnite soon weren’t enough, Disney also confirmed that a Kingdom Hearts panel was going to happen at this year’s D23. Fans have put all of their hopes into the event featuring a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4, which goes some way to explaining why D23 Is Struggling To Meet Demand, And There’s A Good Chance It’s Kingdom Hearts’ Fault We Better Hope It Actually Leads To Something Since the announcement of the Kingdom Hearts Deep Dive panel at D23 this year, fans have pretty fairly figured that it’s going to lead to some news on Kingdom Hearts 4. This might have been the push that many needed to go to D23 and see for themselves, which is something that the event itself seems to be struggling with. Over on Twitter, the official Disney D23 account shared that, due to “overwhelming demand”, it’s extending the deadline for the Reservation Selection Process for panels and presentations. Essentially, so many people are trying to attend D23 this year for the panels that Disney is having to push back the deadline for selection. While D23 is always a busy event and it’s fair to say that things like Doomsday could be pushing attendance, there’s also a very good chance that the Kingdom Hearts panel is responsible. Fans certainly seem to think so, as all of the quote retweets on the post are blaming (complimentary, of course) Kingdom Hearts fans for the troubles. That’s just one half of the response to D23’s post, though, as many are also begging Disney to livestream the Kingdom Hearts panel for those who can’t attend and want to see it in action. I can’t imagine Disney doing this since it gives little reason to attend in person, but the hype is clearly hitting everyone and not just the people who can actually get there. If you’re worried about missing a potential trailer, I wouldn’t be, as I’m sure that the official socials are going to share any announcements as they happen. We’ll also no doubt get descriptions from people attending. It’s a little funny that this event is getting so much attention when we don’t actually know for sure whether there’s even going to be anything big there. There’s also a chance that the rumoured Fortnite announcement is the big reveal, which, while exciting for some, certainly isn’t going to be a big moment for most fans.
