If you're a Kingdom Hearts fan, then I probably don't need to remind you how dry the last few years have been. 2022 made the future of the series seem incredibly exciting with the reveal of Kingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link, but it's been pretty downhill since Square Enix promised "magic in the making". Not only did Missing Link get cancelled after many delays and a ton of hype for what it would do for the story of Kingdom Hearts, but we've also heard next to nothing about KH4. The biggest update we've had on the game in more than four years was a select few screenshots that Square Enix released to calm the community down, which released a whole year ago today. Kingdom Hearts 4's Last Big Update Was A Whole Year Ago 365 Days With Nothing But An Anniversary Post To Keep Us Tided Over As pointed out by Twitter user thegamersjoint, today, May 15, marks exactly one year since Square Enix randomly decided to drop seven (har har) screenshots of Kingdom Hearts 4 on its Twitter page. For those who don't remember, those screenshots include a battle between Sora and the Heartless, confirmation that Mickey is playable, and updated looks at Sora and Strelitzia. Related Although nothing really brand new was shown of Kingdom Hearts 4 with these screenshots, it was like an ocean at the time considering what a drought we'd been in. Even if some accused the screenshots of just being damage control for the cancellation of Missing Link, they were very much appreciated. And now, 365 days later, that's still the last time that we've had any kind of concrete update on Kingdom Hearts 4, as no new trailers or screenshots have been shown in all that time. This is despite the post promising more information when "the time is right", which you'd think would have happened in a whole year. It's not been all bad news, though, as Nomura not only said development was progressing smoothly some time ago, but also seemed to promise that news is coming next year for the series' 25th anniversary. While today is a bit of a depressing reminder of how long it's really been since Kingdom Hearts 4 last got an update, we can all keep being hopeful that it will change soon.
