However, there’s an even more ambitious mod in the works by Reddit user F02K — roleplay servers. “We are currently working on a multiplayer framework for KCD2,” they announced two days ago, attaching a photo of the server GUI. “Its design is made for dedicated community servers. A server is easy to set up without any coding knowledge.” In-Game Voice Chat, PvP, Property Ownership: What To Expect From KCD2 Roleplay Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a mechanically dense game that not only emphasizes historical accuracy for the broad strokes of its Bohemian setting, but the mundane day-to-day life of those mulling away in the 15th century. It's the perfect foundation for what is essentially digital larping. The goal right now to bring that vision to life is “big RP servers” on the scale of the Skyrim RP mod, with PvP, in-game voice chat, and even property ownership, allowing players to assume the roles that KCD2 characters hold. “I’m already working on a system that allows people to own property,” F02K explained in a new thread showing off the first working UI. “If you own property you will be able to grant access to other players as workers or whatever roles are open for this property. KCD2 has some properties you would be able to rent for a night in singleplayer, in multiplayer this will be possible too. Prices would be set by the owner and what you have to pay as a customer would be calculated based on how much time passed on the server.” However, for this function to work, NPCs must be disabled, so F02K is adding an option for server hosts to toggle them on and off. Likewise, slo-mo isn’t feasible online, so it will also be unavailable. As for the main story, ultimately, this isn’t a co-op mod, so it isn’t a priority to make it playable from start to finish. However, F02K told one commenter that it has been noted down “as something optional” to work on in the future. “The main focus is on dedicated multiplayer designed for RP with or without NPCs,” they said. Right now, F02K is working on NPC syncs and dropped item syncs, with chests and doors already synced. They’ve also uploaded their work so far to GitHub, inviting other modders to contribute or simply take a look if they’re interested. There’s also a dedicated Discord server if you’d like to keep up to date with the project’s progress.
