Nuclearn and GSE Solutions have announced a strategic collaboration that connects machine intelligence tools with high-fidelity nuclear plant simulators. The partnership targets two parts of the nuclear workflow. GSE plans to add Nuclearn’s capabilities to its simulation products. Nuclearn will also use simulator data and access to develop new engineering and operator support tools. That connection could give advanced software a more realistic understanding of how a specific nuclear plant behaves. GSE’s simulators already recreate plant systems for operator training. Under the collaboration, instructors could use natural-language prompts to create training scenarios. The software could also generate summaries after each exercise. Those reports could help instructors review how trainees responded to changing plant conditions. Adaptive assessments form another part of the planned integration. Training software could adjust quizzes and questions based on an operator’s performance. Plant-specific physics explanations could also appear during training sessions. That feature may help connect simulator events with the engineering principles behind them. One planned capability focuses on operator decision support. Another would let engineers rapidly explore large numbers of simulated scenarios for risk and design analysis. Engineers could also test proposed plant modifications inside a digital sandbox before making physical changes. Nuclearn also plans pattern-recognition tools that could identify early signs of equipment drift or procedural changes. Such systems could potentially surface trends before they become larger operational problems. The collaboration also extends to reactor development. Simulator-informed models could support technical evaluations of emerging reactor concepts, including small modular reactors. Jerrold Vincent, Nuclearn’s co-founder and CFO, said nuclear simulators provide a valuable source of plant-specific operational data. “Simulators are where nuclear operators build the judgment they rely on every day,” Vincent said. The partnership, he added, aims to make those systems more useful for people operating nuclear facilities. Safety remains central Nuclear operators have long relied on simulators to prepare crews for routine operations and unusual plant conditions.
