However, it’s worth acting fast – not everything has survived the first 24 hours of the sale, and a handful of junior styles are missing their largest sizes. It’s a clean black T-bar on a chunky sole, with a hook-and-loop strap rather than a buckle, so getting out of the door in the morning is a two-second job. Kickers has put webbing around the foot opening and a padded collar on it, which is the bit that stops the strap edge rubbing across the top of the foot on a full school day. Adult Women’s Finley Lo Patent Leather Black Adult Women’s Finley Lo Patent Leather Black: £59.50 (was £85) This is the most expensive pair here even after the reduction, and it’s aimed at older girls in adult sizing rather than primary-age feet. What you’re paying for is a slim-soled patent derby that reads as a proper shoe rather than a school shoe, with tonal hardware instead of obvious branding – useful if your teenager has opinions about looking like they’re in Year 7. Patent is the sensible choice for anyone who won’t polish anything, since it wipes clean. It does scuff more visibly than matte leather, though. Adult Mens Reasan Lace Leather Black Adult Mens Reasan Lace Leather Black: £50.40 (was £72) This deal represents a £21.60 saving, and every size from 6 to 12 was in stock when we checked, which is unusual this far into a sale. The Reasan Lace is a moccasin-shaped lace-up on a flexible sports sole, so it looks like a school shoe from the front and walks like a trainer. Inside, there’s a mesh lining, a cushioned foam footbed and a padded heel collar, which together are why this one tends to get recommended for teenagers walking a decent distance to school.
