At the KDE Akademy 2026 conference going on right now in Graze, Austria the three KDE goals for the next two years were unveiled. The voted upon goals where KDE developers will put extra emphasis moving forward include: KDE for Enterprises and Deployments - This includes work items like better LDAP integration in Plasma, password expiry support, SSO-based accounts and logins, improved network printer settings, good headless remote / terminal support, and more to help with KDE Plasma on enterprise deployments. Better documentation - Eliminating outdated / misleading / duplicative documentation and all around improving the tutorials and other documentation around the KDE deskop. This also includes the creation of a contributor guide. Next Generation Styling for KDE - Designers will work on the Ocean project to create a design system and build a uniform design with it. The technical stakeholders will work on the Union themeing engine itself. All of the proposed goals for 2026 and beyond can be found at invent.kde.org.
