KDE Plasma 6.8 Lands Dwell Clicker Support To Improve Accessibility On Wayland

In preparations for Plasma 6.8 going Wayland-exclusive in abandoning the X11 session, another feature gap compared to X11 has been addressed. Merged today is dwell clicker support in replacing KMouseTool functionality used by KDE Plasma on X11. Dwell clicker provides a means of performing a mouse click by stopping to move the cursor on a given location without needing to press a physical button. For KDE Plasma users with paralysis, mobility issues, or other reasons for not being able to click a physical mouse button, the dwell clicker support for Plasma 6.8 on Wayland allows replacing the functionality of KMouseTool on X11 to provide an accessible desktop experience. KDE developer Sebastian Sauer blogged about this latest development landing in time for the upcoming Plasma 6.8 release. This merge request has the details on the dwell clicker support from the KWin side. There was also this merge to the Plasma Desktop for adding a Plasma applet and KCM for configuring the accessibility option. Plasma 6.8 is due for release on 14 October that also marks the 30th anniversary of KDE's inception.
