KAISER CHIEFS frontman Ricky Wilson reckons the band’s next record could be their greatest ever — because “the gods” are sending him melodies in his sleep. In an exclusive interview, the Oh My God singer explained: “I’m going to write another album. I’ve already sent it to the band. “When it does, I get very excited because I’ve heard all the stories about The Beatles and the Rolling Stones who woke up with a song in their head. While sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll have long been associated with our most famous rockers, Ricky insists life has only got more fun since he quit the bottle. I gave it up two years ago and it’s a lot less chaotic, and a lot more fun. “I think it’s exactly the same on stage now. I’m able to enjoy the moment a lot more. “That’s the positive thing. Also, I much prefer getting up feeling like I want to do it again, and looking forward to the next show and not wanting to stay under a blanket all day.” That’s good news for fans seeing the band at festivals up and down the UK in the next few weeks. And now I’m told the Bad Habits singer has plans for another property nearby. Ed quietly bought the £1.1 million Grade II-listed pad and land a couple of years ago, and is in the process of converting some of the barns into a music studio complex. He’s put in for planning permission for a “small habitat pond”, in official documents sent to the council. But specifications might cause some collywobbles because the pond measures 43 metres by 20 metres – which is just shy of the size of an Olympic swimming pool. That certainly gives a new spin on the term “small”. ROGER DALTREY, Robert Plant, Paul Weller and The Shires are among acts who will perform at a tribute concert to Bob Harris.
