Kaiser Chiefs star Ricky Wilson claims divine being sent him latest melodies like Macca & Jagger as he plots new album

KAISER CHIEFS frontman Ricky Wilson reckons the band’s next record could be their greatest ever — because “the gods” are sending him melodies in his sleep. In an exclusive interview, the Oh My God singer explained: “I’m going to write another album. I’ve already sent it to the band. “When it does, I get very excited because I’ve heard all the stories about The Beatles and the Rolling Stones who woke up with a song in their head. Read more on Ricky Wilson It’s probably a good thing he is waking up feeling spritely these days and not with a fuzzy head, after giving up booze in 2024. While sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll have long been associated with our most famous rockers, Ricky insists life has only got more fun since he quit the bottle. The singer, right, whose band burst on to the scene two decades ago with I Predict A Riot, said: “There’s no drinking. I gave it up two years ago and it’s a lot less chaotic, and a lot more fun. “I think it’s exactly the same on stage now. I’m able to enjoy the moment a lot more. “That’s the positive thing. Also, I much prefer getting up feeling like I want to do it again, and looking forward to the next show and not wanting to stay under a blanket all day.” That’s good news for fans seeing the band at festivals up and down the UK in the next few weeks. And to make those trips even more memorable, Ricky has teamed up with temporary car insurance firm Tempcover to create a tool for us to find the most scenic routes this summer, which you can find at tempcover.com. The singer looked glamorous in a black dress as she supported her other half at the New York premiere of his new romcom One Night Only. Although he has said they removed some of the raunchiest scenes from the film, it can’t have been the most fun watch for Dua given it’s about an alternate universe where, for one night a year, pre-marital sex is legal. Callum said on US TV: “The initial pitch was The Purge but for sex, and I immediately wanted to read it. “From 7pm to 7am, you have one night a year to have pre-marital sex to get it out of your system. “I just thought, ‘How ridiculous’. I always wanted to do an out-and-out comedy.” ED HAS A BAD HABIT OF PLANNING PONDS Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran performs on stage last year Credit: Getty ED SHEERAN is risking the wrath of locals again with a planning application for his second estate. It’s been ten years since he first gave neighbours kittens over a “wildlife pond” at his Suffolk home, called Sheeranville. And now I’m told the Bad Habits singer has plans for another property nearby. Ed quietly bought the £1.1 million Grade II-listed pad and land a couple of years ago, and is in the process of converting some of the barns into a music studio complex. He’s put in for planning permission for a “small habitat pond”, in official documents sent to the council. But specifications might cause some collywobbles because the pond measures 43 metres by 20 metres – which is just shy of the size of an Olympic swimming pool. That certainly gives a new spin on the term “small”. ROGER DALTREY, Robert Plant, Paul Weller and The Shires are among acts who will perform at a tribute concert to Bob Harris. The broadcasting legend, who retired in June after 56 years on the airwaves, will be celebrated at Stand By Me: Bob Harris – A Celebration Of Life In Music at London’s Royal Albert Hall on December 2. GRACIE GUEST ARTISTS Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams at the Oscars in March Credit: Getty GRACIE ABRAMS and her actor boyfriend Paul Mescal get guests to do paintings and drawings of each other whenever they drop in. The couple live together in London and she said of their home: “Whenever we have people over, there’s always pens and paper and pastels out, and the party-favour segment is everyone goes home with portraits of the night.” The pair also worked on Gracie’s recent song Imaginary Friend during a jamming session at home. Gracie told Rolling Stone magazine: “We are a very musical household, and so there’s always something brewing.” SUPER-producer Galantis will be returning with a new EP called The Devil’s Tax Return: Volume 1, on October 16. It includes re-worked versions of hits by The Killers and Arcade Fire. Given the Swede has worked with Kylie, Madonna, Little Mix and Britney Spears over the years, I am sure there will be plenty more bangers on there. SIA THE SECRET OF POP COMEBACK FOR PARIS Paris Hilton with Sia, who was the brains behind her 2024 record Infinite Icon Credit: Getty PARIS HILTON has revealed Sia was the brains behind her 2024 record Infinite Icon, with the Aussie singer persuading her to get back into music. Appearing on podcast series Hayu Presents, out today, Paris said: “Miley Cyrus asked me to perform with her and Sia on New Year’s Eve. “The next day Sia was like, ‘Do you want to fly home with me to LA?’ We were on the plane talking, and she’s like, ‘You were born to be a pop star. Why have you not released another album?’ “And I was like, ‘I’m really busy. I just haven’t had the time.’ And she’s like, ‘Well, would you make the time if I was the executive producer and the writer with you on the album?’ How can you say no to Sia?” TATE’S DRIPPING IN GOLD Tate McRae covered herself in paint during a performance of her hit Sports Car Credit: Getty Tate dripping in gold as she closes her Lollapalooza festival set in Chicago Credit: Getty TATE McRAE is the girl with the golden tum – and everything else. She closed her Lollapalooza festival set in Chicago by covering herself in paint during a performance of her hit Sports Car. The singer recently talked about struggling after wrapping up her Miss Possessive Tour in November. She said: “My thoughts felt so dark at the time, and I felt so lonely. “I really needed to come back into my body and regulate my nervous system. I was so shot after the tour. I couldn’t really sleep at night. “I’d seen so much of myself that I was like, ‘I want to go into a black room and not look in a mirror for six months.’” Comment now
