Josh Downs on trade request: "I'm open to whatever"

Published October 28, 2026 01:04 PM Colts receiver Josh Downs did not directly confirm that he would like to be traded, but he effectively said he’s open to a change. Downs spoke to reporters on Wednesday around the same time as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that he had requested a trade.Downs was asked directly if he had made that request.“I’m open to whatever,” Downs said, via James Boyd of TheAthletic.com. “Whatever comes my way, comes my way, and we’ll go from there.”Downs noted that even with his name in trade rumors, he’s trying to stay in the moment. “I mean, you think about your future anyway,” Downs said. “So, that’s not really something that’s different. But I feel like it is what it is at the end of the day.“My feet are here right now, so I’ve got to be right here,” Downs added. “I’ve got a task at hand with my team. So, it could be different tomorrow, could be different the next day — I don’t know. But, just got to be focused on right now.”That right now includes trying to beat the Jaguars in Jacksonville — a feat the Colts haven’t accomplished since 2014.“I’m in the game plan, so I’ve got to be ready to go,” Downs said. But will he still be by the time Sunday rolls around? That remains to be seen. But based on Tuesday’s trades, the Colts are certainly open for business, particularly as Downs is on an expiring rookie contract. In seven games this season, Downs has caught 26 passes for 307 yards. Last season, he had 58 receptions for 566 yards with four TDs.
