Jennifer Aniston’s racy joke to Jim Curtis shocked me – I’ve covered her love life for years & never seen her like this

I’VE SPENT years writing about Jennifer Aniston’s love life. I’ve covered her marriages to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux, and her relationships with Vince Vaughn and John Mayer. I’ve even spent an evening with one of her exes, British builder Paul Sculfor, who she dated for two months back in 2007. I thought I’d seen every version of Jennifer, 57, in a relationship – and then I watched her with her new man, hypnotherapist and life coach Jim Curtis and it made me rethink everything I thought I knew about her. Sitting just three rows from the front in the Kauffman Concert Hall in New York, I found myself watching Jen and Jim, 50, together and asking myself – could this finally be The One? Jennifer’s love life has never exactly been plain sailing, and I hold my hands up – I have been as guilty as any other showbiz journalist of following every twist and turn. But there was just something about them together that made me feel that this time, it could be different. Jennifer was at the launch of Jim’s book, The Book of Possibility, not just to support as his partner, but to interview him on stage. They joked, teased each other and shared little snippets of their home life – including the fact they had practised the interview questions together beforehand. But I felt there was an electric chemistry that definitely wasn’t rehearsed – with former Friends star Jennifer even telling a rather racy joke. She said: “I went to Steiner School just down the street so I would come to this gym every Thursday. And I wasn’t very sporty, but we had to do dodgeball and there were these huge red balls. “And there was no field; it was just indoors, so you had to run for your life. “So it’s quite a full circle moment to be back here with you…. Well … speaking of dodging balls …” It led Jim to say, in hysterics, “First question please..” And the on stage flirting didn’t stop there as Jennifer told him: “I know A LOT about you…” before affectionately referring to him as “Mister Curtis”. But it wasn’t just what they said to each other that convinced me there was something genuine between them – it was how at ease they were with each other. Later, when the tables were turned and Jim began asking Jennifer questions, she became visibly uncomfortable, squirming in her chair and even, at one point, dropping her notes. But in a sweet moment, Jim looked at her reassuringly and said: “Just relax” and you could see that her body physically did. It was a tiny moment, but for me, it was one of the most revealing of the evening, especially since Jennifer then admitted that public speaking was a deep fear of hers. Jim asked her: “What’s one possibility you’re choosing today?” And she replied: “To overcome a very deep fear of public speaking.” Choosing to do something that she felt so uncomfortable doing and pushing past her phobia to support her partner just showed the world how close their bond is. Then they kissed and then hugged, with Jennifer whispering something in his ear. It was the kind of clinch that lingered, as though neither of them clearly wanted to let go. Sitting there, I found myself thinking about all her other relationships I had written about over the years and what I quickly realised was that this one started from a friendship. They were social media pals before they became a couple, with Jennifer having followed him on Instagram and sharing his 2024 self-help book Shift: Quantum Manifestation Guide in May 2025. Then last summer, they looked to be more than just friends on a yacht in Mallorca. Jennifer later made their relationship Instagram official when she shared a photograph of the pair together in November 2025. The drive was more natural, more organic, less needy.” But of course not everyone is convinced their love will last and there have been some unfair remarks about how Jim may be benefiting from Jennifer’s fame by raising his profile. But a source close to Jennifer shot this down, saying, “She wasn’t being used – she was being a supportive girlfriend. Her fame, her decision, her call.” And Jennifer’s famously tight inner circle – which includes best pal and former co-star Courtney Cox – is said to “absolutely adore” Curtis, with claims they haven’t seen her this happy in years. And when Lisa Kudrow – another of Jennifer’s close friends and former Friends co-star – liked a reel I had posted on Instagram about the couple, it felt like another indication of the support surrounding their relationship. It’s clear those closest to them are rooting for them. And for Jennifer, well, she is clearly smitten. When asked by an audience member what was the best advice she could give, she quoted the late Dolly Parton who she worked with on 2018 film Dumplin’. Quoting one of Dolly’s most memorable quotes, Jennifer replied: “I would say, ‘Go chase your dreams and go catch some rainbows. You’ll catch a few.’ Dolly did that, for sure.” And as I sat there watching Jennifer with Jim, I realised she is doing exactly that.
