According to officials, ACE authorities arrested Cheema from inside the jail on Tuesday and initiated an investigation into allegations of large-scale corruption against him. The accused was produced before the court shortly after his arrest. During the proceedings, the ACE circle officer requested a 12-day physical remand, arguing that the investigation team needed to recover the alleged bribe amount of Rs450 million. The court, however, granted the ACE a five-day physical remand of the accused and handed him over to the anti-corruption authorities for further investigation.
