Introductory tour on green financing conducted in London

London: The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), the Environment Authority, and Oman Centre for Net Zero, conducted an introductory tour in the United Kingdom’s capital, London, to showcase the Sultanate of Oman's readiness for green financing and its sustainable finance framework.The delegation was headed by Mahmoud Abdullah Al Aweini, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, with the participation of several specialists from relevant entities. During the tour, the latest developments regarding the financial and economic performance of the Sultanate of Oman were reviewed. The discussions also covered governmental efforts in environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG), as well as the strategic plan for net-zero emissions.Furthermore, the tour introduced the sustainable finance framework and explored investment and financing opportunities for green and sustainable projects across various sectors, supporting the transition toward a low-carbon economy in alignment with the objectives of "Oman Vision 2040."The execution of this tour comes within the framework of the Ministry of Finance's efforts, in cooperation with relevant authorities, to expand the investor base and attract foreign investments, thereby supporting economic and environmental development targets.It is worth noting that the Ministry of Finance launched the sustainable finance framework in January 2024. Serving as the first framework of its kind in the GCC countries, it is compliant with the principles of the International Capital Market Association and has achieved an SQS2 "Very Good" rating from Moody's. The framework covers 14 categories eligible for financing.
