Interestingly, though, long before the novel became a New York Times bestseller, its original idea was conceived as Star Wars fan fiction. It was first published only in 2018 as Head over Feet, giving Star Wars fans a story that walks through the "Reylo" ship between Rey and Kylo Ren. The same fan fiction was later retconned as an original and more grounded story focusing on two characters that had nothing to do with Star Wars. However, readers might still notice how Olive and Adam from The Love Hypothesis seem reminiscent of Rey and Kylo, respectively. Speaking of Adam, his name, too, is derived from Adam Driver, who plays Kylo in three Star Wars movies: The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
