Serbia’s students and their professors may have been prompted to protest by the lack of accountability for the fatal collapse of an outdoor canopy at a railway station in late 2024, but their talking points have since broadened considerably. Not without risk. At a recent rally in the central Serbian town of Kraljevo, the main theme was not their demand for elections, for a proper fight against corruption, or for the rule of law to finally apply to all.
