In a first, Vande Mataram played at Red Fort on Independence Day

For the first time since Independence, the Red Fort witnessed the rendering of the national song Vande Mataram during the 80th Independence Day celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the historic ceremony and addressed the nation, underlining the deep emotional connect associated with the song. PM Modi noted that as the country marks 150 years of Vande Mataram, there could be no more fitting occasion than Independence Day to honour its enduring legacy. He said the song echoed across the Red Fort, reflecting the patriotic spirit of the people. The Prime Minister also highlighted the widespread display of the Tricolour, saying that today every home and every heart carries the national flag.
