MAURA Higgins has revealed the “sweet signs sent from the universe” as she celebrates becoming the new Blind Date host. The Sun was first to reveal that the Irish star, 35, was being lined-p to tront the iconic match-making show, that was made famous by the legendary Cilla Black. Now the stunning star, who herself found fame on a match-making-how when she appeared on Love Island in 2019, has revealed all the signs she had from the universe that pointed to Blind Date. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Maura shared a photo of herself on a huge poster for TRESemmé haircare, and just below it are rows of pictures of famous faces. In the second row down, and right in the middle is legendary Blind Date host, Cilla. READ MORE ON MAURA HIGGINS Writing over the pic, Maura penned: “The universe works in the craziest ways. I already knew I was going to be the new host of Blind Date when this billboard went up months ago, which made seeing Cilla’s face right underneath mine feel even more surreal.” In the second slide, the former Islander shared a snap from a shop, and on the cashier’s desk was a post-it note that had the words “blind date” on it. Sometimes the universe sends you the sweetest little signs.” The late Cilla famously hosted Blind Date from its debut in 1985 up to 2003, pulling in up to 17 million viewers on a Saturday night, before it was shelved by ITV. She died in 2015 aged 72. Most read in Showbiz The show was less successful when it was revived by Channel 5 from 2017 to 2019 with Cilla’s pal, Paul O’Grady, who passed away in 2023 aged 67. Disney+ are looking to air the reboot at some time in 2027, with filming starting this year. It comes as glamourous Maura’s profile has soared both in Britain and across the Atlantic, where she has appeared on The Traitors US and Love Island USA. The star’s popularity in the US then lead to her being snapped up for Dancing With The Stars, which kicks off next month.
