The 78-year-old director, choreographer, and actor explained that he’s been undergoing treatment, addressing fans’ concerns after they started commenting on his recent appearance. ‘A few people have commented that I haven’t been looking quite my usual self recently, so I thought I would share an update,’ he began on social media. He penned the update alongside a photo of himself wrapped up in a jacket and woolly hat in Kew Gardens, which he said was taken on Friday, ‘looking at the wonderful Henry Moore exhibition’. ‘Since the summer, I have been undergoing treatment for cancer. ‘I’m pleased to say that the treatment appears to be working, and I am on the mend thanks to all at the Royal Marsden and am looking forward to getting back to full strength.’ Wayne did not divulge further details of his diagnosis or treatment plan, but confirmed he is ‘in good spirits and feeling positive about the future’. ‘Thank you to everyone for their kindness and concern,’ he concluded, signing off with ‘Much love, Wayne x’ Fans flooded the comments with well-wishes, sending ‘all the best’ for a ‘speedy recovery’. His latest health news comes 11 years after Wayne was diagnosed with prostate cancer. At the time, he admitted the words shook him ‘to the core’, but he opted not to have radiotherapy, as it’d mean missing filming for The Real Marigold Hotel in India. ‘The other option we discussed was brachytherapy, where tiny radioactive pellets are put into the prostate to kill the cancer,’ he told The Mirror. The dancer and TV star also had prostate cancer 11 years ago (Picture: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock) ‘So I went for that. I didn’t really discuss my illness with many people.’ As well as ballet, Wayne is known for stints on various well-known British TV shows, including the first series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2003. He was also part of Team Ant in the Ant v. Dec challenge on Saturday Night Takeaway in 2008, and has featured on Come Dine With Me, All Star Family Fortunes, and Celebrity MasterChef, finishing fourth on the latter. In 2017, he filmed for The Real Full Monty, raising awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, and the following year, he made the Celebrity Big Brother final, placing fifth.
