Set to be constructed between junctions 16 and 17 of the motorway, the structure will include a food court, retail space, and business facilities, as well as toilets and washing facilities. As well as 24 pumps, the station is set to include extensive parking amenities. There will also be up to 759 spaces for cars and other light vehicles, alongside 190 HGV spaces, 19 coach bays, and parking for caravans, motorcycles, and abnormal loads. Plans also outline electric-vehicle charging points, landscaping and drainage infrastructure. The development has been met with mixed responses due to the location along the Green Belt. Extra MSA Group estimates it would create approximately 674 jobs during its two-year construction and 244 jobs once in operation. Most read in Motors The committee agreed to approve the application subject to the completion of specific planning conditions, which includes strengthened requirements for an operational waste and litter-management plan. Cllr David Moore said he “reluctantly” supported the application, and has continued to call for strict requirements covering waste and litter collection, as well as CCTV and coverage of the slip roads.
