HOWARD Stern Show host, Rahsaan Rogers, was let go after 16 years on the job, as he is now one of at least 5 on-air stars who were laid off. In a post to LinkedIn, Rahsaan confirmed the news of his exit from the SiriusXM show, which purged at least a dozen people earlier this month, after it was announced their marquee talent would only be doing one live show a week. He humbly closed out his post with “To everyone I worked with over these 16 years: thank you. What a ride.” Stern fans are dropping their subscriptions left and right following the news that the radio icon is cutting back to a single show per week. To make matters worse, a dozen staff members were unceremoniously fired and handed insultingly light severance packages, according to insiders speaking to The U.S. Sun. The show is undergoing a massive shakeup after those brutal layoffs gutted the team. Moving forward, listeners will get just one three-hour episode each week, hosted by the 73-year-old shock jock. Most read in Entertainment Stern and his faithful co-host Robin Quivers, who is also 73, first got their start together in March 1981. They built their empire on terrestrial radio, doing five live broadcasts a week before taking a massive $500 million payday to jump over to Sirius Satellite Radio in January 2006. Once they settled into SiriusXM, the schedule started shrinking. They went down to four live shows a week, running Monday through Thursday, and eventually trimmed it again to three days, filling the rest of the calendar with vacation time and reruns. Stern is currently on his extended summer hiatus. When he comes back in September, listeners will be greeted by this bare-bones schedule. This massive downsizing comes shortly after Stern locked in a three-year deal to stay with SiriusXM through 2028. The recent cuts hit hard, wiping out key on-air personalities, including veterans who had been with the show for more than twenty years. Sources close to the production say those let go were completely blindsided, leaving the few remaining staffers terrified about who might be next. Comment now
