Big Walk: How To Solve The First Island Drawbridge Puzzle Published Aug 5, 2026, 3:47 PM EDT Gabrielle is a staff writer for TheGamer who began working in gaming journalism in May 2022, immediately after graduating cum laude with her Bachelors in English. Once you and your friends emerge from the playground room that serves as a hub for every venture in Big Walk, there are plenty of things in the beautiful Australian Outback-inspired landscape ahead that will almost certainly catch your eye. One such thing is the vast ocean directly ahead, which is where you'll find the location of the drawbridge in Big Walk. Unlocking the drawbridge is your tutorial puzzle for the game, and you'll need to solve four smaller puzzles to earn a key, which you'll then need to cut to the right shape by following one final puzzle's path. The first part of any new game of Big Walk is playing through the tutorial playground, the area you walk out into once you start off. Here, you'll learn to play the game by seeing the different ways you can make your character move to communicate with friends when you get separated. You can stick your arms out to the side or upwards, pick up and move items, kick them to cover further distances, and even slide down diagonal surfaces when you sit on them. Do all these introductory puzzles and leave the starting area when you're ready. Outside, you'll see plenty of different things as you look out toward the ocean. There's scenery, a view of the Salon that allows you to customize your appearance before you head out, and plenty of peeks at the four puzzles you'll need to solve in order to gain access to the remainder of the island in Big Walk. If you walk toward the beach, you'll find a conspicuous area that has four pear-shaped slots, corresponding switches, and a large key sticking out from the puzzle. This is what you'll need to unlock the drawbridge and trigger the Big Walk trophy, but you'll still need to solve four puzzles to earn the items you insert into the puzzle to get the key. You'll find the solutions for Big Walk's tutorial puzzles in the table below. You can address them in any order you come to them; there's no right or wrong way to progress through this game. Drawbridge Puzzle Solutions Yellow Crane Button There's a tall yellow structure with a button along the top section that you'll need to find a way to press. One character will need to physically pick up the other until you're collectively tall enough to hit the button when the player on the bottom jumps straight upward. Blue Building Match When you enter the house-like building, you'll need to work together with your group to match up the images inside to unlock the item. Relay the information about which of the five symbols goes in which order to the player trying to assemble a row of photos on a hook near the item itself. Green Structure Buttons Near the blue house-like building, there's a green, rounded structure with four pillars. You'll find a few buttons along the walls, on the backs of the pillars, one for everyone who's playing. Everyone in the group needs to press one button at the exact same time to unlock the item from this puzzle for the drawbridge key. Orange Platform Telescope On the platform that juts out from an upper area here in the starting spot in Big Walk, you'll find a telescope that peers across to the next item and a button that can be pressed, which opens the container the item is in across the area. Another player will need to head over to the item on their own while someone stays behind at the button, and when they arrive, the player with the telescope has to press the button to open the case containing the item for the other player to grab. There is a day/night cycle to worry about for now, and you'll struggle to see in the dark for the moment. Either hang out overnight until the dawn breaks, or find a creative way to solve puzzles in the dark. You can use the rocket by the lake to light up the area, and it'll show you where the next items for your puzzle solution will be, as well as leaving the area illuminated for a brief time. After you finish each of these puzzles, you'll receive one of the red items that act as tokens of completion, which you'll need to carry back to the key on the beach and insert into the shaped slots nearby. Depending on how many people are playing, you may need to make multiple trips back to the spot with the key, since you can only bring as many items as you can physically carry for now. By finishing all four puzzles and inserting the items you earn from them, you'll earn the key that juts from the puzzle's back side. To do this, you'll need to find and follow the cutters, which shape your key one at a time until it's ready to use. Follow the red arrows on the tops of the machines to cut it in the right order. When you're done, head back to the drawbridge to use the key to open the bridge, and the rest of Big Walk is waiting for you just ahead. In addition to the Big Walk trophy, you'll also earn yourselves a flashlight so you can solve the rest of the game's puzzles without fear of night.
