Jing Ye - The Outlaw is likely the very first roadblock that many Phantom Blade Zero players will hit. While he isn't a particularly hard boss if you know what you're doing, this boss fight is needlessly frustrating because of one simple trick he has up his sleeve. If you've been struggling to defeat this guy, trust us, you aren't alone. In this guide, we will tell you exactly how to fight and defeat this annoying boss, so you can continue exploring the world. Spoiler alert: It's much easier than it seems, but we can't blame anyone for struggling with this, because we did too. Before You Fight The Outlaw One thing you absolutely need to get through this fight as quick as possible is the Dread Axe. Make sure you have it equipped, because it will make the entire fight A LOT easier. Obviously, make sure you bring your best healing gourds and try to upgrade your two main weapons as much as possible. How To Defeat Jing Ye The Outlaw Jing Ye The Outlaw only has one phase, but it feels like he has three of them. Only the second phase is the problematic one. When you start the fight, Jing Ye will attack you while riding on his horse. Don't do anything special during this phase. Simply drain his stamina, damage him when you can, dodge and parry his attacks, and get ready for the very problematic second phase, which will begin as soon as he gets off his horse and draws out his very problematic spiked shield. That dreaded spiked shield is what makes this entire fight a lot harder than it actually is. Whenever you attack Jing Ye, even if it is from a counterattack, you will take damage. Why? Because you will get hit by his shield. At first, we thought we could go around him and attack from the back, but as it turns out, Jing Ye can easily turn around and keep blocking/damaging us. So what do you do? Simple: You attack that dreaded shield as much as possible and break it. Before you attack it with your basic attacks, use the Dread Axe. If used correctly, you can likely destroy half or at least a third of his shield with the Dread Axe. Yes, you will take damage, but the longer you take to do this, the more chances Jing Ye has to use his other attacks to destroy you. In short, as soon as The Outlaw gets off his horse and draws out his spiked shield, you attack him with everything you've got (Dread Axe first, regular attacks after). Don't worry about your health as you will take damage. Just make sure you don't give this guy an opportunity to fight back, and just break that spiky nuisance. Be as aggressive as you can. The moment you destroy Jing Ye's shield is when phase three begins, you have more than likely won the fight. Jing Ye will still attack you, but his attacks will be very predictable, and you won't get hurt when you fight back. Just break that shield and you'll be good to go.
