Goals from Carlton Cole and Winston Reid sealed a famous win even despite Kevin Nolan’s sending off after just nine minutes for a two-footed challenge. Millwall‘s Liam Trotter scored an equaliser before Reid smashed home a volley into an empty net, controversially after David Forde was taken out and left sprawled on the floor after punching a cross away. But how did the teams line up that day? Some remarkable names who are known to fans across the country ended up on the pitch that day. West Ham had former England goalkeeper Robert Green in goal for them, with Joey O’Brien, Reid, James Tomkins and George McCartney making up their back four. Jack Collison played off the left wing while Julien Faubert starred off the right in support of big man Cole up front. Current Ipswich boss and South Londoner Gary O’Neil came off the bench with 10 minutes to go. He was joined on the pitch by Ricardo Vaz Te and Matthew Taylor, while Sam Baldock and Nicky Maynard were unused subs by Sam Allardyce. In their staple 4-4-2 shape, Millwall had Nadjim Abdou in the middle with skipper Trotter, with Jack Smith and Liam Feeney providing the width on the right and left, respectively. Up front was the combo of Darius Henderson and Andy Keogh. Off the bench came two future Tottenham stars, one of which went on to become England’s leading goalscorer.
