Published Sep 3, 2026, 5:00 AM EDT Although Kaitlyn grew up with a passion for both video games and writing, she never imagined she'd eventually combine them into a career. Now, with several years of experience in the industry across Guides, Features, News, & Reviews, Kaitlyn enjoys nothing more than continuing to deep dive into the games she's passionate about and share her findings with readers. In her downtime, Kaitlyn enjoys unwinding with her favorite horror films, despite being a major scaredy-cat. With the release of Orbitals, the retro-anime co-op adventure you've been waiting for is finally here. Orbitals is a mandatory co-op game, meaning there is no solo content, and it follows the story of Maki and Omura as they set off into space to search for some important items crucial to their community's survival. Now, while we don't have any prior work from developer Shapefarm to gauge how long it would take to complete, many have compared Orbitals to the co-op games from Hazelight Studios, which have recently clocked in around the 10-hour mark. That said, being that Orbitals is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, you won't have any achievements to worry about. How Long Does Orbitals Take To Beat Given the nature of the art style and gameplay, nobody was anticipating Orbitals to be a 40-hour game, and it isn't. Completing Orbitals from start to finish should take you and your partner about 10–12 hours. I can imagine JRPG players will be especially drawn to this game because of the retro anime art style, so while it is on the shorter side compared to the 60+ hour AAA game you might be used to, if you've ever tried to organize a single play session with a group of friends, you know how difficult it is to schedule several hours when even two people are completely available. How Long Does It Take To 100 Percent Since Orbitals is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, there are no achievements to unlock. That said, there are a few mini-game collectibles you can find throughout the game's missions for your ship. These collectibles are off the beaten path, but they're not entirely hidden. So they should be pretty easy to find if you're looking around the levels. On my first playthrough, I managed to find all but one by just passively exploring each level. So, with that in mind, if you seek out all 10 of the mini-game collectibles to complete the game, you're probably looking at about 14–15 hours. That's assuming that you only miss one or two on your first playthrough. If you miss more, you'll need to replay more missions to find them, which will extend your completion time. It's worth noting that there is a special mission at the end of the game that grants access to the ship's mini-games you did find, so you can play as many times as you want. However, only the time it takes to complete each mini-game 1–2 times and unlock the high score during your playthrough is factored into the times listed above. You can, thankfully, select individual missions to replay, so you won't need to replay the whole game, but each mission can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half to beat. Beyond that, there's no secret alternate ending to unlock or anything else to worry about, so you're done.
