Putin’s invading forces have been repeatedly accused of launching “human safaris” to murder civilians in Kherson. The attack comes a week after a volunteer distributing aid was targeted inside his van by a Russian drone. Hope for Ukraine, the charity that he was working with, said: “Oleksandr was targeted and killed by a Russian drone while delivering vital humanitarian aid to frontline communities. His bravery will forever inspire us.” Kremlin troops captured the provincial capital in the first days of the full- scale invasion but they were forced to make a humiliating retreat in October 2022. They scrambled across the Dniper river blowing up bridges as they left. But since they they have hammered the city with rockets, artillery and drone attacks – as it is only separated from Russian controlled territory by a the 1000ft wide river. Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly raised the alarm over escalating drone attacks, saying just weeks ago: “The situation is especially difficult in Kherson, where the Russians are conducting a safari against people. “Defences must be significantly strengthened with more interceptors, more electronic jamming systems, and more gun crews operating in the city.” His warning came days after The Sun reported on how children are being lured to their deaths by toy-like mines deployed by Russia to “depopulate” Kherson. Yuriy Boyechko, founder of Hope For Ukraine, said that Kherson has been transformed into a de-facto urban “minefield” as Russia has been using cheap, agile FPV drones to scatter the camouflaged munitions. This tactic is a relatively recent evolution of Russia‘s drone terror, noticed for the first time in April. Boyechko described it as the “deliberate weaponisation of backyards and doorsteps, a calculated attempt to make life uninhabitable.” “Walking to a pharmacy is becoming a gamble with mutilation,” he said. “It is a big problem. “Russia is using FPV drones to drop these mines all over residential areas in Kherson.
