Priyanka, of GSL Medical College.The suspects, identified as Suravarapu Daswanth and Andrew Joseph Edwards, are currently in judicial custody till August 21 in Rajahmundry Central Prison for allegedly ramming the car into the two-wheeler on which the victim was travelling on August 3. “We have filed in a local court for police custody of the two accused,” Rajamahendravaram Central Zone In-Charge Deputy Superintendent of Police A. Subhash told The Hindu. However, the local court is yet to hear the plea.Meanwhile, GSL Medical College Executive Director Dr. Ganni Sadhika, along with the students, on Wednesday handed over a cheque of ₹20 lakh to the parents of Priyanka.According to an official release, a team representing the GSL Medical College, Rajamahendravaram, met Priyanka’s parents at Iklaspur in Telangana and paid floral tributes to her portrait. They consoled her parents, Kanike Venkatesh and Chandramma, during their visit.The team includes Dr. Tarun, Dr. Subhashini, and Dr. Harish, who monitored Priyanka’s medical treatment in Rajamahendravaram and coordinated with her parents until she was shifted to Secunderabad.Dr. Tarun has assured the grieving parents that the college administration would cooperate with the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure justice for Priyanka.
