Here’s What We Know About ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Season 4

The third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City has taken Maggie and Negan to some wild places, and we’re not talking about the Empire State Building. I won’t be forgetting that alternate universe episode straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie for a long time. Now that the season is over, however, there is a bit of uncertainty about the show and the franchise’s future. Maybe these unwilling allies will keep going... or maybe it’s finally time to say goodbye.If Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan did not have such good chemistry together as scene partners, this show would have never worked. Why would you want to see a team-up between a woman whose husband was murdered in front of her (while she was pregnant with their child, BTW) and his actual murderer? No matter how reformed Negan may or may not be, Maggie does not need to put up with him! Plenty of people would come to her defense if she killed him! They encounter so many warring factions and big personalities in the greater New York City area that they rarely have time to focus on their own baggage, but still! It’s wild that they’ve been stuck with each other for so long.Has The Walking Dead: Dead City been renewed?As of the season 3 finale, AMC has not yet renewed or canceled Dead City. Perhaps they’re waiting for New York Comic-Con in October to make the big announcement? That’s a bit of wishful thinking on my part: Dead City does not have a panel planned for AMC’s presentation. Only the delegation from Daryl Dixon, the other currently running TWD spin-off, is set to appear. But Scott Gimple, the franchise’s chief content officer, can do what he wants! If he wants to use the DD panel to make an announcement, he’s allowed.When would Dead City season 4 premiere?Unlike some other shows in the supernatural/horror/science fiction genre umbrella these days, it does not take two years guaranteed to make a new season of Dead City. The first season premiered in 2023. while the second season was slightly delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, after it came in 2025 the third season followed promptly in 2026. Each season has aired in the summer, too, though the month has varied. Therefore, if a season 4 of Dead City is in the cards we can most likely expect it in June or July of 2027. Probably not May, but you never know!Is the Walking Dead universe, like... ending?Can a franchise about the undead ever die? The Walking Dead is over. Fear The Walking Dead, the first official spin-off, has ended as well. World Beyond, a spin-off focused on children and young adults in the TWD apocalypse, only lasted two seasons. Daryl Dixon, the spin-off that took the original series’ most anti-social character on an international adventure, will have its fourth and final season in 2027.Now... The Ones Who Live, the romantic Rick & Michonne sequel series, was allegedly intended as a limited series... but this is not a “no take-backs” scenario as far as I am concerned. Let’s get a season 2 of that show on the calendar! Take backs are absolutely encouraged when it comes to the future of The Ones Who Live.If Dead City doesn’t come back, this could be it for The Walking Dead. So, you know... no pressure!
