Hereford loses its title of biggest dildo buyers to this ‘posh’ Yorkshire town

Some might strip down at its iconic Turkish Baths, too, but in the comfort of their own homes, residents are getting naked for something much less PG. It turns out those in Harrogate buy the largest dildos in the UK. The town has seen a sudden, unexpected rise to the top of Lovehoney’s 2026 Sex Map ranking, after failing to finish in the top five last year. The average dildo purchase in Harrogate measures in at an eye-watering 7.35 inches. Last year it was the sleepy town of Hereford that topped the list, although locals there only purchased dildos measuring 7.13 inches. That may seem on the small side if you’re comparing to porn actors’ bodies, but it’s a rise (sorry) of 8.9% in length in two years, placing Britain eighth in the global rankings for penis growth. For overall size, meanwhile, the UK ranks 60th in the world. But Harrogate isn’t the only town making big purchases. Blackpool came in close second, buying dildos measuring 7.33 inches on average, while Huddersfield was third with 7.32 inches. In Lancashire, Preston came fourth, purchasing slightly smaller 7.29-inch dildos, while Coventry rounded out the top five with 7.27 inches. This is certainly above average, even in the sex toy world, with the typical dildo being purchased in 2026 averaging 7.07 inches, an increase from 6.84 inches the year before. That means that none of the top five featured last year (Hereford, Jersey, Inverness, Twickenham and Hemel Hempstead) made the cut. Maybe they realised bigger isn’t always better. Despite being the smallest, that doesn’t mean they’re actually small, as it’s still an inch larger than the typical British man. Taking second place is West London, with 6.68 inches, followed by Isle of Man locals who purchase 6.77-inch dildos. Fourth on the list was Paisley (6.80 inches), while taking the fifth and final spot was East London at 6.81 inches. Where is buying the most sex toys? But there was one region in Wales that proved to be the raunchiest of all – Clwyd. The town of Mold purchased the most toys out of anywhere in the country, but it was followed closely by Abergele, Rhyl and Wrexham, all which are located in the same region.
