It includes tabletop wargames where players can collect, build, and paint miniature plastic or metal models and stage tactical battles. There are many novels around the franchise, video games, and pen-and-paper RPGs as well as standalone tactical board games. The franchise is now a multi-billion-dollar phenomenon worldwide. Variety has revealed that a Warhammer 40,000 animated event series is officially in development with Amazon MGM Studios, Blur Studios, and Games Workshop. Cavill has signed on to executive produce the upcoming series, which is a spinoff of the animated anthology series, Secret Level. The actor is also attached to star in the live-action Warhammer 40,000 series, and both series will be developed alongside each other. Secret Level also featured a Warhammer 40,000 episode during its first season when it debuted in 2024. The director of the Warhammer episode in Secret Level is the co-creator and director for the new animated event series, alongside John Orloff (known for Band of Brothers). As reported in Variety, exact details regarding the plot have largely been kept under wraps, but it will feature an elite group of Space Marines who specialize in hunting aliens named The Deathwatch.
