HALIFAX has revealed the exact date it will close its banking app and has notified customers of next steps. The app closure comes as Lloyds Banking Group prepares to retire the 173-year-old Halifax brand. Halifax’s mobile app will close permanently on Saturday, October 31 Credit: Getty Halifax has told its customers it will begin closing its app in October ahead of its big rebrand to Lloyds. It confirmed in an email that the app will officially be closed down on October 31 and customers will need to move over to the LLoyds app to continue using their online banking services. The email read: “Just a quick reminder that from 5 October, as part of the Halifax brand changing to Lloyds, we’ll start to close the Halifax app. “To keep managing your accounts online, you need to move across to the Lloyds app. “In just a few easy steps, you’ll be up and running, with everything you need ready for you – your accounts, payments you’ve set up, and any letters and statements we’ve sent to your digital inbox.” Lloyds has assured customers that using their app should feel similar and easy to use and noted that switching over should only take a few clicks. Halifax has added that once its app is closed at the end of October, customers “ won’t be able to access your accounts from there at that point” Lloyds Banking Group also remains confident that absorbing Halifax under its banner will ultimately benefit customers.
