In the comments, Brancaleoni listed the differences between the old and new versions of Go. A user asked Brancaleoni what he used to generate the comparison, to which he replied that he used a combination of GLM-5.3-Flash and OpenCode. In response, someone pointed Brancaleoni to Void Linux's stance on AI: All contributions are expected to be made by humans. AI tools may be used for research and learning, but all content in contributions must originate from and be understood by the contributor. This includes code, documentation, issues, security reports, pull request descriptions, and comments in all Void Linux community spaces. Brancaleoni stated he understood the output, but was reminded that the problem wasn't any lack of understanding, but that an AI was used to write up the comparison. Brancaleoni responded with a thumbs-up emoji, alongside a mass ophaning of all of his packages. All 113 of them, in fact. Phoronix did some digging and listed all of the orphaned packages, and there are some big names in there, including Kubernetes. All of them will essentially be dead in the water until another maintainer decides to pick up the mantle. Regardless, this is yet another case of how the big AI debate is splitting the open-source community.
