I just... yeah I struggle with that about myself and about that bit of the character.'Look, I had two years of... my journey with Dave's illness was very different to what everybody else sees because it was highly personal and it was very private. I was on the A1 and he went, "Are you on your own?" And I said, "Uh yeah, yeah". And he said, "I've got I've got cancer, King".'And he was such a bugger because his first thought was "well in between chemo, I'll probably be able to film or do something". And I was thinking, what you thinking about work for you lunatic? And I was going like, "well, you know, we'll see". And like "We'll work it out, man. We'll work it out".'The presenter went on: 'There was just this surreal moment of like, what do you say and what you think you share? And you know, if you don't know what to say, say, "I don't know what to say". Inevitably I went into asking lots of questions that probably Dave hadn't had the time to answer because, you know, he told me straight away.Si then went on to say that Dave and his family at the time were 'up for the scrap' to take on cancer head on, noting that his 'role' as Dave's friend was to 'support that endeavour.''It didn't matter what I thought or what route that I personally would have taken. It was about supporting them in the best way that I could', he said. On continuing on without Dave, Si noted how 'different' it was after having spent many years as a double act, recalling how they had always 'taken each other into consideration'.Si's words come shortly after he revealed he has found love with a new partner after suffering the heartbreaking loss of his best friend and TV partner. The TV chef, who is one half of the Hairy Bikers duo he created with Dave, said that he was lost after the passing of his friend and considered 'riding into the sunset'. In a candid new interview on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Si, 59, admitted that he's still 'pretty angry' about his passing as he recalled his 'disbelief' over Dave's diagnosisSi explained during an interview with The Sunday Times magazine that he wanted to be left alone and cut off from anyone being able to reach him. However, more than two years after Dave's death, Si has now revealed he is not feeling so alone after meeting Milly, who he has so far shared little detail about.Promising to reveal more in the future, Si said: 'She is a very special lady. She really is. I'm very happy. It's been wonderful and continues to be wonderful. And you know, I think the lads [his sons] are really happy, as is my ex-wife Jane, actually.' Si was married to Jane Dodd for 27 years before they separated in 2016, citing the demands and long absences caused by his career for the breakdown of the marriage.During their marriage, the couple welcomed three sons; Alex, James and Dylan.'It's about being present, and I think for very many years I wasn't present. And my home life suffered,' he said in the interview. When asked how he is doing now, Si said: 'I'm all right, I mean look, it's challenging and I continue to work probably too hard, but I kind of don't know what else to do.'
