Guy Pearce, Sabrina Impacciatore, Rachael Stirling & Selena Tan Join Jeff Daniels In Trudie Styler’s ‘The Reception’ – AFM

EXCLUSIVE: Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Rachael Stirling (Rivals) and Selena Tan (Crazy Rich Asians) have been unveiled in the cast of Trudie Styler’s The Reception about it a chaotic wedding party, which is currently shooting on location in Scotland. They join two-time Emmy winner and five-time Golden Globe nominee Jeff Daniels (The Squid and The Whale), who Deadline previously announced in the lead role. Styler is directing for her and Celine Rattray’s production banner Maven Screen Media (Eleanor the Great) and Piers Tempest’s Tempo Productions (I Swear). Watch on Deadline News of the cast comes as Beta Cinema gears up to launch sales on the picture at the upcoming American Film Market, with CAA representing domestic rights. Set at a grand Scottish estate, The Reception follows a wedding party that proceeds despite the unfortunate absence of the bride and groom. When Felix abandons Victoria at the altar, their families and friends are left to navigate a lavish but increasingly chaotic reception. As the guests attempt to keep up appearances, the celebrations descend into a day of calamity, hilarity and unexpected connections. The screenplay is written by Tom Stourton and Tom Palmer. The Reception marks Styler’s fourth feature-length directing project, following Up Against It, which premiered at TIFF this autumn. Her previous work includes Freak Show and Posso Entrare? An Ode to Naples, which won Italy’s prestigious Globo d’Oro for Best Documentary in 2024. Styler is also producing alongside Rattray (Eleanor the Great) and Tempest (I Swear). Written by Tom Stourton and Tom Palmer. Executive Producers are Peter Chiarelli and Fred Fernandez-Armesto. Maven Screen Media’s recent productions include Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor the Great, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
