GTA 6 Leakers Explain Their Reasoning For Releasing Game Footage Early While Teasing A "Secret Project"

Sign in to your TheGamer account While it felt practically inevitable that Grand Theft Auto 6 would see more mechanics leaked ahead of release at some point or another, the latest gameplay reveals have been coming from an incredibly strange source. As noted by PC Gamer, the group named Cyberleek behind the early footage isn't some random person sharing the gameplay early for eager fans to enjoy, but a group claiming to fight back against "anti-consumerism." The group also released a manifesto with three so-called "commandments" that threaten any game publishers selling "digital pre-orders," selling "fictitious DLC for single-player games," and not working to "preserve content for single-player games." GTA 6's Leakers Have Strong Words For Corporations While these commandments could affect countless studios at this point, Cyberleek stated that the group "will not stop until they (Rockstar and Take Two) issue a public statement and apology with a concrete commitment to do better," all whilst ironically advertising the sale of their own cryptocurrency. Although there's certainly merit in protesting Grand Theft Auto 6 as the first major game to mark the downfall of physical media preservation from Sony, some of the other commandments are a little harder to follow. Despite the apparently noble claims of the Cyberleek group that claim "this is not a cash grab", the fact that every reveal so far has been plastered with advertisements to buy their meme coin "$CYBERLEEK" makes it hard to take the statements at face value. Even if it's more than a little skeptical, the leaker group did anticipate the concern by saying that their reasoning is to help raise "funds for a secret project" that will be "directed toward the infrastructure needed to strike" companies like Rockstar, whilst simultaneously offering "Security and protection" against "corporate counterattacks" Rockstar Has Kept Quiet About The Leaks So Far Rcokstar While Rockstar or Take Two hasn't put out any official statement yet to the demands of the leakers, it's incredibly hard to imagine either the absolutely massive studio or monolithic publishers would ever apologize over a series of small leaks like this. Adding even more fuel to the fire is the leaks getting shot down by copyright claims not long after being shared by users, thus indirectly confirming their authenticity. Considering the group has threatened to release more statements and is possibly even getting financial support from eager fans waiting to see what else GTA 6 has in store ahead of the next official reveal, it wouldn't be surprising if we see even more leaks as we get even closer to the official release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19, even if not from Cyberleaks themselves.
