| Games News Writer Published October 28, 2026 10:36am Updated October 28, 2026 10:36am Larger than life (Rockstar) Rockstar’s GTA 6 will require a major clear out of your PS5 hard drive, as it rivals Activision’s Call Of Duty in hogging up space. GTA 6 is set to be one of the biggest launches in video game history when it arrives on November 19, and in more ways than one. The open world epic will undoubtedly break sales records, and contribute to a rush in demand for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The map also promises to be monstrously big, but even from a file size perspective, GTA 6 is set to be an absolute porker. After a leaker claimed GTA 6 would take up over 200GB of space, we now have concrete numbers about the game’s size, thanks to the PlayStation Store. As reported by X account PlayStation Game Size, who regularly reveal backend listings on the PlayStation Store, GTA 6 will take up 210GB on PlayStation 5. For those who have pre-ordered, you’ll also be able to pre-load the game from November 12, 2026. It’s unclear how big GTA 6 will be on Xbox Series X/S, but it’s expected to be around the same size – if not slightly more as Sony’s console typically has better data compression. Want GTA 6 news? This number doesn’t account for any potential day one patch either, so it may well be even larger by the time launch day comes around. 🚨 Grand Theft Auto VI– 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐳𝐞 : 210 GB – 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 ($79.99)Pre-Load : November 12Release : November 19𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 : Midnight pic.twitter.com/5vXkgnqfC7— PlayStation Game Size (@PlaystationSize) October 27, 2026 For a comparison, 210GB is almost double the size of Rockstar’s last game, Red Dead Redemption 2, which takes up around 111GB on PlayStation 5. GTA 5, meanwhile, is around 96GB on Sony’s console. In fact, if this size is accurate, GTA 6 will be the biggest single-player game ever. The only games with a larger file size at launch are Activision’s Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare 3, at around 220GB and 234GB, respectively, but these are unfair comparisons because they include Warzone in the Call Of Duty launcher. The game’s massive size is likely indicative of the open world’s scope, the level of density in the environments, along with the volume of cinematic cut scenes. So if you’re planning on pulling a sickie at work for GTA 6’s launch, make sure you do some hard drive clean-up beforehand.
