Sign in to your TheGamer account GTA 6 is going to sell tens, maybe even hundreds of millions of copies. It could end up becoming one of the best-selling games of all time. We know this not just based on the astronomical sales figures GTA 5 has racked up in the 13 years since it launched, but also on the GTA 6 sales estimates we have three months before the game has even been released. GTA 6 Estimated To Have Sold 4.38 Million Copies Rockstar Games According to data analysis by Sensor Tower, GTA 6 has already sold roughly 4.38 million copies. That might not sound like much for a modern-day GTA game, but consider everything at play here. This isn’t how many copies the game is believed to have sold in its first week. It isn’t even an estimate for its first day. This is how things stand with three months still to go until GTA 6 even gets here. All of those sales are, naturally, making Rockstar and Take-Two a lot of money. While GTA 6 will sell in the millions, the revenue it generates will be in the billions. In fact, again, according to Sensor Tower, it’s already almost halfway to making its first billion dollars based on pre-orders alone. Estimates have GTA 6 pre-order revenue sitting at around $429 million. That’s around $97 per copy sold, which backs up the claims by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick that the $100 Ultimate Edition of GTA 6 is far outselling the standard $80 version. You wait over a decade for a game, an extra $20 to ensure you can enter all of its virtual stores is a small price to pay, especially when, for a lot of people, GTA 6 is the entire reason they even bought a PS5. How GTA 6 Pre-Orders Are Selling On PS5 vs. Xbox Rockstar Speaking of PS5, Sensor Tower’s analysis also includes estimates for the sales split across consoles. 77% of GTA 6 pre-orders have been placed on PS5, with the remaining 23% pre-ordering their copy on Xbox Series X|S. Considering the earlier claims that Xbox copies were being outsold by their PS5 counterparts at a rate of eight-to-one, these numbers don’t seem all that bad for Xbox. The majority of those 4.38 million pre-orders were likely placed within a few hours of them becoming available. Rockstar still has some big moments that will result in further sales spikes between now and release day on November 19, though. It will seem almost unbelievable to most of you reading this, but when the GTA 6 Extended Look airs on Netflix, millions of people will be seeing the game for the first time. Those are the people Rockstar now needs to start reeling in. The very casual gamers who don’t even really know anything about video games outside of GTA. It has been a very long time since GTA 5 was released. Rockstar needs to take GTA 6 to those people. A lot of those people won’t just pre-order their copy after seeing it on Netflix, but they might even buy a console to play it on too.
