Of course, while we appreciate the update, we're more interested in changes that make our lives a lot easier. And while there's nothing yet, it looks like Google could be working on a way to automatically pull data from your photos, grab the details, and add them to your calendar. This is something we're looking forward to Credit: Android Authority The news comes from Android Authority, which dove into the code for Google Photos version 8.0. The news outlet shares that there's an option that can be seen in the code that indicates there might be a future option to "Add to calendar." The feature leverages the power of Ask Photos without forcing you to move in and out of apps to get things done. As the code says now, Photos will ask you to access your calendar to create events for you. Android Authority tested the feature, and Google Photos was able to break down what a poster is, along with all the important data, and create an event for a calendar entry with a title, date, time, and a description. It's pretty much everything you need, done for you. It's still in the works It appears that this action doesn't need to be directly with Google Calendar, but whatever Calendar app that you're currently using. That's a pretty good way to go, offering flexibility for different types of apps. What makes this automatic entry more powerful is that it will apparently also include a link back to the original photo. This provides a way to refresh your memory about the event, while also being able to double-check all the details. With AI doing a lot of the heavy lifting here, you never know, there could be small details that aren't correct. You wouldn't want to plan for an event, only to miss it because Ask Photos decided to record a different date or time. With that said, Android Authority did point out that all the essential details aren't being recorded for the entry, with the feature as it is now missing out on a time zone selection. Naturally, this is to be expected; it's not even a feature that's live or even in beta. It's part of the code that's in the Google Photos app that's been activated for experimentation. Again, none of this is public, so things can and will most likely change, and there isn't an ETA on when this will make a public appearance.
