Godzilla Minus Zero is eying a record-breaking opening-weekend haul on the back of excellent reviews, stomping out competition from this week's major new American offering, The Cat in the Hat. The Roald Dahl adaptation looks set to become Warner Bros.' latest box-office disappointment in a year the studio would like to forget. Featuring Bill Hader as the voice of the titular character, The Cat in the Hat is projected to gross between $15 million and $20 million in its first weekend, against a reported budget of more than $90 million. Meanwhile, A24's word-of-mouth sensation — the three-hour documentary feature You Can See Everything — is looking to add around $9 million this weekend, taking its running total to approximately $80 million. At this stage, a $100 million-plus haul is all but guaranteed for the controversial film. Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is expected to gross around $7 million over the weekend, with its total haul increasing to around $9 million over four days. The mythological epic, which is notable for being India's most expensive movie ever, grossed $3.5 million in Thursday previews. Meanwhile, Martin McDonagh's acclaimed dark comedy Wild Horse Nine, starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, is looking to gross around $5 million this weekend.
