God of War Laufey Officially Delayed

Now, however, the game’s release has been pushed back, though luckily not too much. The announcement was issued by Santa Monica Studio, the developers behind God of War Laufey, in a post made on X. The release of the new first-party PlayStation 5 game was officially pushed back, but only by a few months. Instead of arriving on February 16, God of War Laufey has been delayed to May 20th, 2027. This means that the game will not be available during the first quarter of 2027 and will instead be part of the Q2 releases next year. Revealed in June this year, God of War Laufey is a new core entry in the series that will focus on Faye, Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother. There will be tons of new and returning characters and gods in God of War Laufey, as Faye will explore the Everywhen in an adventure that will cover different pantheons and mythologies altogether. However, players will have to wait a few extra months before doing so. Santa Monica Studio mentioned the need for extra time to put in “the finishing touches” and guarantee it will reach its “fullest potential.” The complete statement from Santa Monica Studio, which was posted on X, says: Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we’ve been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye’s journey through the Everywhen. We don’t take for granted the trust placed in our studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans. With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to delay God of War Laufey’s release to May 20th, 2027. We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential. Delays like these, in which developers claim the need for extra time to fully polish the game, are quite common. In fact, GTA 6 was officially delayed twice, but it is finally arriving later this month.
