The game allows players to take control of one of the great houses, whether that be Targaryen, Stark, or Lannister, and you can even step into the boots of the Night King to wreak as much havoc as possible. You'll be taking part in huge battles, managing fragile relationships, and building up your own strength, in a full strategy experience that should play similarly to other big releases in the genre. Battles also take place in real-time, and if you ever played the excellent Battle for Middle-earth, then that's a fairly good reference point for what combat in this game looks like. The real idea here is that players will be able to craft the story to their liking (in the absence of George RR Martin doing so). That affords us the opportunity to write the wrongs of the show's final throes, and that should be a cathartic experience, if nothing else. The developer continues to post regular progress updates and all seems to be going quite well, though they have delayed the full launch to early 2027 to ensure all of the systems are finished in time for release. The game also features a full multiplayer mode, so it's worth checking to see if your friends want to conquer Westeros next year. As mentioned earlier, you will have to wait a little bit to play the game, but it really does look like a Game of Thrones experience that we haven't had yet, as players.
