The FreeRDP 3.33 software released today as the newest version of this open-source Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) implementation. FreeRDP has been working toward EmScripten and WebAssembly (WASM) support the past few years. With FreeRDP 3.33 they are now ready with their WebAssembly support. This new version is advertised as being able to run within your web browser when compiling it to WebAssembly. FreeRDP 3.33 has also improved its SDL client, added experimental UDP support for direct RDP connections, Unicode keyboard input pipe is now supported by all clients, experimental Windows shadow server support, macOS file clipboard support without relying on FUSE, and initial support for translations of messages. FreeRDP 3.33 was also impacted by the onslaught of AI/LLM activity... They note in this morning's release announcement: "The influx of pull requests and feedback for bugs/regressions/... was huge, so we will do a patch release with all the papercuts and bug still in the backlog soon." This includes FreeRDP 3.33 shipping with 13 known security fixes. Downloads and more details on FreeRDP 3.33 via GitHub.
