Free GHA Titanium Hotel Status For Bank Of America’s $100,000 Rewards Tier

If you have $100,000 in qualifying Bank of America and Merrill balances, check your banking rewards before paying for hotel elite status. There’s a reported benefit tucked inside the program that gets you GHA Discovery Titanium, with no hotel stay required. On the November 6 Frequent Miler on the Air episode, Greg Davis-Kean said he used this himself. His status upgrade was instant and runs through December 31, 2027. I’ve called GHA my second favorite hotel loyalty program, after Hyatt. I’ve received real benefits at hotels I actually wanted to stay in. Where To Find The Bank Of America Offer Greg reports that it works for Preferred Honors and Premier members, as a one-time match. That’s based on banking relationship tier rather than specific card product. Bank of America publishes the requirements for access to its lifestyle benefits: Preferred Honors requires an eligible checking account and a combined three-month average daily balance of at least $100,000 in qualifying Bank of America deposits and/or Merrill investment accounts. Premier generally starts at $1 million. Bank of America Private Bank clients can qualify for Premier regardless of balances. Enrolled members can find lifestyle benefits under the Rewards tab in online banking or MyMerrill, or through the lifestyle benefits tile in BofA Rewards. Look in the travel offers for GHA Discovery and follow the specific activation link. The $100,000 doesn’t have to be cash in a checking account, it includes investments at Merrill count. The Value Of GHA Titanium Status GHA Discovery is the loyalty program for roughly 1,000 hotels across about 60 brands, including Kempinski, Anantara, Capella, Pan Pacific, NH and Lore Group. It’s a way for smaller hotel groups to offer recognition and rewards across a much larger collection. I covered the program’s relaunch in December 2021, when it added Discovery Dollars (essentially, points-earning, it had been primarily a recognition program before that) and made status easier to earn. Titanium is the highest published tier. Normally, Titanium takes 30 eligible nights, $15,000 in eligible spending, or stays at three qualifying brands in a calendar year. The main Titanium benefits are: A two-category room upgrade, subject to availability, and that can be a suite. 11 a.m. early check-in and 4 p.m. late checkout, both subject to availability. Request early check-in at least two days ahead. A welcome amenity. 7% back in Discovery Dollars on eligible spending. Each dollar is worth one U.S. dollar towards eligible hotel charges, and regularly earned Titanium dollars expire after 24 months. There’s also breakfast for two at participating brands on direct bookings. This has expanded since I covered the benefit’s introduction in 2024, but it still isn’t universal. Lore Group and Capella participate, as do Anantara and many others. Titanium doesn’t guarantee club lounge access. And the ability to gift Titanium to someone else requires earning the status through the normal qualifying criteria so a match alone doesn’t get you that benefit. I’ve made several GHA Discovery stays through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts as well as Chase’s The Edit, and benefits stack. At NH Collection Palazzo dei Dogi in Venice, early check-in and 4 p.m. checkout was especially useful. At Riggs in Washington, D.C., I booked through Chase’s The Edit and combined its benefits with GHA status. My suite was the former bank boardroom, with a dining table for twelve. I also combined American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts with GHA at Kempinski Cancun, receiving an oceanfront suite and club access. Greg’s Augustine Prague story was a good experience as well. He’d booked a hotel that converted to a Kempinski so he added his new GHA number and contacted the hotel. They combined the Fine Hotels + Resorts upgrade with Titanium’s double upgrade and put him in a historic Treasury suite. He also earned D$75 from the stay. Don’t Have The Bank Relationship? There’s Still A Paid Match I’ve covered GHA’s unusually broad status match offers before, including eligibility through airline and cruise status and selected credit cards rather than just another hotel program. The current paid match is scheduled to run through November 30, 2026, with status through December 31, 2027: Titanium costs $150 and comes with D$75. Platinum costs $100 and comes with D$50. The gift dollars expire after 12 months, and there isn’t a stay challenge required. Qualifying Titanium matches include Hilton Diamond, Hyatt Globalist, Marriott Platinum and above, and IHG Platinum and above, among others. For someone who will use all D$75, the Titanium offer has a $75 net cost. You can potentially match GHA Titanium onward to other programs as well. And the easiest way to qualify in some cities would be three one night stays at different brands. Topics on this page
