However, there is help at hand, and it’s a surprisingly simple process. It’s called “spoon-feeding fertilisation”, and experts regard this as the best lawn-feeding method for keeping your grass healthy and green all-year round. It involves doing exactly what its says – literally “spoon feeding” small amounts of fertiliser on your garden regularly. It’s recommended to drop no more than 0.5 lbs of nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft every 4-6 weeks. There are downsides to the process, however, as outlined in a blog post by the experts at Evergreen Outdoor Services. The major downside is the frequency of applying the fertilizer to a lawn. Most read in The Sun “Staying on a consistent schedule is crucial,” they added. “Missed applications can disrupt nutrient availability and impact overall lawn health.” Gardeners should water their lawn lightly right after fertilising – just enough to wet the soil.
