SEVEN children have been injured at a fairground after a flying chair ride collapsed. What began as an evening of fun in El Callao, Venezuela, ended in sheer terror for dozens of families. Following the incident the park was immediately closed and an investigation was launched into the fault. Experts will inspect the equipment to find out if the collapse was caused by poor maintenance, worn-out materials, or faulty assembly. The investigation will determine if anyone is legally or even criminally responsible for the accident. Spectators watched as the entire ride hit the hard floor and flung passengers onto the solid ground in India. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and rushed the injured victims – one who was in a critical condition – to nearby hospitals. In a similar incident in April, a fairground ride suddenly collapsed as crucial cables suddenly snapped. The malfunction in southern Brazil left 11 people injured, including one person who suffered a fractured vertebra.
