An independent florist in Milton Keynes has hit back after Love Island winner Finley Tapp branded one of its £20 bouquets 'pathetic' in a video he allegedly filmed 'in secret'.The influencer and stay-at-home father who shot to fame after winning season six of ITV's reality TV show, documented his visit to The Flower Boutique in Woburn Sands online yesterday.Finley said he wanted to buy his wife flowers to celebrate her first day back at work after maternity leave but was left disappointed by the size of the bouquet £20 bought him.Hand-tied and wrapped in brown paper, the posy included purple asters, a cream rose, delphiniums and green foliage, with Finn holding it up and saying: 'I'm not being funny, I'm just back in the car after getting some flowers. Since when does £20 get you that?''I thought I was going to walk out of there with a big f***ing bouquet of flowers! Oh, well. It's the thought that counts, innit? That's pathetic,' he continued. The owner of the Flower Boutique, Kim, has since shared her side of the story while accusing Finn of hypocrisy and 'attacking a small business' while suggesting his £20 budget was 'pathetic' rather than the flowers. She called him out for partnering with flower delivery company, Interflora, after he created a brand video for them, urging people to support local florists online, 'then going on to bash a local florist'.Kim also criticised Finn for filming one of her staff members without seeking permission and declared supermarkets selling £5 bouquets is the 'same as Shein or Temu charging less'.Finley said he wanted to buy his wife flowers to celebrate her first day back at work after maternity leave but was left disappointed after his visit to The Flower BoutiqueThe owner of the Flower Boutique, Kim has since shared her side of the story while accusing Finn of hypocrisy and 'attacking a small business' while suggesting his £20 budget was 'pathetic' rather than the flowers.'Recently, we served an influencer (unbeknownst to us) with almost one million followers,' the message posted on The Flower Boutique's Instagram account read. 'They came into our shop and requested a £20 bouquet. They made no complaint in the shop when they received their flowers and took them away happily.'However, they then made a video of their bouquet, deeming it "pathetic",' Kim wrote before sharing a 'list of things we think are pathetic' instead. She urged people to 'support your local businesses', adding that the flowers sold at supermarkets are 'typically mass-produced, lower grade, full of chemicals and preservatives'. The florist also explained why supermarkets like Sainsbury's and Tesco can 'sell flowers at a loss' because they make up the cost on products with a 'large markup' like cards, gift bags and cakes. 'They also have a huge command of the market and can buy hundreds of stems at a time, versus us buying much smaller amounts in one go,' she said. 'It's the same as Shein or Temu charging less than an independent boutique.' She also highlighted Finley's recent collaboration with Interflora UK, a flower delivery service that partners with local florists across the country, as being performative. As part of the paid partnership, Finley chose a bouquet of white flowers from Interflora and praised the company for supporting local businesses in a video posted in July. Kim's response to Finley's video about her flower shop After he publicly criticised The Flower Boutique, Kim wrote: 'You should mean what you say, whether you're paid or not.' Her followers urged Finley to 'do better' while praising Kim for the quality of her 'gorgeous' flowers and the arrangement despite his 'tight budget'. One comment read: 'I’m so sorry this happened to you. I worked in a florist as a teenager nearly 30 years ago and even then £20 wouldn’t get you a big bouquet!'Floristry quality is always higher and for very good reason - you did a beautiful job with a tight budget.'Another wrote: 'They were a beautiful bouquet!!! The fact he's moaning about it is crazy. If he wanted a bigger bunch, maybe he could have upped his budget.''I would prefer a single locally grown flower over a massive bunch of chemically sprayed mass produced flowers from the supermarket any day of the week,' a third added. However, one person questioned why Kim responded to Finley's video considering he didn't name her business, adding: 'You've outed your brand for some bizarre reason.' She replied: '[In] the video we are referring to, he does a shot panning the inside of our shop, and captures our florist from behind making his bouquet. He did not ask to film this, and it’s not appropriate to do so.' Some also felt Kim's comment about Finley's budget being 'pathetic' was off colour, with one person writing: 'I agreed with it all the way up until the last slide when you called the budget pathetic. 'Maybe someone really wants to support local. Maybe they really love what you do and want to be part of that. But all they can spare for an extra expense is a 20. You've effectively just called your customers that come in with that budget, whether on purpose or inadvertently - pathetic...' The Daily Mail has reached out to Finley for comment.
