Fitbit Air launching in India in October, Google confirms after Pixel 11 launch

Google has confirmed that it is launching the Fitbit Air in India later this year. Now, the company has confirmed that the Fitbit Air will be launching in India before the end of this year.During the Pixel 11 launch event in India, Google told India Today Tech that the Fitbit Air will launch in October this year. The wearable marks Google’s push towards screenless fitness tracking and AI-led health guidance. Previously, the Fitbit Air was spotted in an Amazon India listing.Google Fitbit Air specs and featuresThe Fitbit Air is a lightweight wrist strap without a display. The wearable is designed to track health data quietly in the background instead of asking users to keep checking a screen. It weighs 12 grams with the band attached.The Fitbit Air continuously monitors your heart rate, tracks sleep stages, and generates Sleep Scores. Users can also check heart rate variability, or HRV, which is commonly used to understand recovery and stress levels. Google says that the wearable tracker supports automatic workout tracking and can recognise more than 140 activities, including walking, running, cycling, rowing and gym-based workouts. Other features on the Fitbit Air include weekly cardio load, readiness scores, steps, distance tracking and silent vibration alarms. Smart Wake is also included, allowing the device to wake users at a better point in their sleep cycle. Google states that the Fitbit Air uses new machine learning models that are 15 per cent more accurate than earlier versions.Fitbit Air will work with the Google Health appThe company has also redesigned the Google Health app, which will replace the Fitbit app. The company said the Fitbit app will automatically update to Google Health from May 19, with historical user data carried over. You do not need to buy a subscription to access health metrics, but you do get a three-month trial for the Google Health Premium plan that brings you Google Health Coach, adaptive plans and logging.According to Google, the Health Coach can give you personalised workout plans, recovery advice and sleep insights, while also analysing uploaded PDFs, photos and medical records for more tailored suggestions.Fitbit Air expected priceGoogle has not commented on the India price of the Fitbit Air just yet. To give you some context, the device is priced at $99 (roughly Rs 9,450) in the US. The device’s closest competitor, Whoop 5 is available starting at Rs 21,990.In case you want a conventional smartwatch from Google, the company has launched the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 series.
