Sign in to your TheGamer account Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is launching next month, but due to how grand the scale of the game is, and how exciting it is to have another mainline Fire Emblem game (the first on the Nintendo Switch 2), Nintendo gave us a deep overview of the title in its own dedicated Fortune's Weave Direct. There were plenty of exciting details to get stuck into, all of which you can find in our detailed breakdown of everything announced, but arguably the biggest surprise was the reveal that Eshmel will be the game's "true protagonist." Eshmel Will Be Fortune's Weave's Main Character Originally, many believed that Fortune's Weave would see us playing as four different characters, each one representing their own armies and going for victory in the Heroic Games. These characters are Cai, Theodora, Dietrich, and Leda, though Nintendo had also revealed another character called Eshmel, who could be a man or woman, depending on your choices. Eshmel's role in the story wasn't yet known, but we now know that Nintendo had been bamboozling us all this entire time. In this Direct, it was confirmed that Eshmel will actually be the game's "true protagonist", and that you'll gain control of the characters following a five-year time skip that takes place after the section in which you control Cai, Theodora, Dietrich, and Leda. The story will then have you building up forces to take on the Demon God, with all four of the previous characters presumably candidates for recruitment. That means, just like with Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the main character of Fortune's Weave will be a customizable protagonist after all, which is pretty massive for those disappointed with being forced to play as preset characters.
