Over the past few months, Square Enix has made it very clear that it has big plans for the next few years. Kingdom Hearts 4 and Dragon Quest 12 both finally getting updates after years of silence was already a good sign of that comeback, but undoubtedly the biggest of them all was the long-awaited announcement of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation at Summer Game Fest. We already saw a surprising amount of Revelation during its initial reveal, which included showing new playable characters and confirming a release window of spring 2027, but that was clearly just scratching the surface. We just got a new look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation during tonight's Opening Night Live showcase, and it revealed even more new details. Opening Night Live Gives Best Look Yet At Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was one of the few games confirmed for Opening Night Live before the show started, with host Geoff Keighley promising a "new look". As it turns out, that new look gave us plenty of details to dive into, and it focused on the Weapons, the massive superbosses that were such a pain in the original. We saw fights between the party and all three, which appear to have a proper role in the story. Ruby, Emerald, and Ultima Weapon were all included, and one of the fights appeared to take place on the Highwind and in the air. After that, we got a lot more gameplay footage of the game's combat system and new outfits, along with what appeared to be a new summon. We see a moment in which Tifa lifts her arm in the air and summons what appears to be Typhon, a summon that was included in the original Final Fantasy 7.
