FF11's Website Gets Major Overhaul 24 Years Later

Final Fantasy 11's Official Website Finally Looks Vaguely Modernized Published May 15, 2026, 5:02 PM EDT Quinton is a Staff Writer from the United States. In his youth, Quinton was ridiculed for making video game ranking lists instead of paying attention in math class. In adulthood, people sometimes pay him for it. Life's a trip. Taking his first steps into the industry in 2020, Quinton has written for several digital publications, but his permanent literary home is right here at TheGamer. Before striking up a conversation with Quinton, consider the risks: he'll find a way to transform almost any topic into an analysis of either world history, Star Trek, or - at least this one's relevant to his career - all his favorite role-playing games. Sign in to your TheGamer account We write about Final Fantasy 11 sometimes, which is an inherently interesting thing to say in 2026, 16 years after the game's attempted successor, Final Fantasy 14, first arrived. Even if you only count FF's second MMO as having "started" in 2013, with A Realm Reborn, that's... still wild. Indeed, hardcore fans will not let FF11 slip into the night. In fact, popularity spikes are causing servers to get their access cut off to new characters. With this degree of longevity in mind—two dozen years and counting!—the hard-working team keeping Vana'diel alive have committed themselves to delivering a website that doesn't look like it's straight out of 2002. (Which it was.) Welcome To 2026... Or At Least 2011 I'll be honest here. I'm not sure if this revamp qualifies as a modern design. Then again, modern website designs are often so loaded with fluff that perhaps we should be thankful. I can tell you with ease that this is still a major improvement. There's more information, a fairly sleek (if oversized?) vertical tab bar, a straightforward news ticker, and just enough illustration to flavor the pages without becoming overbearing. Clicking the "For New Players" section pulls up a nice scroll-savvy page which introduces FF11 as a "storied MMO" while providing key context. But what I really enjoy here is the easy-on-the-eyes monster bestiaries and such. Clicking on each region along the world map pulls up many of that area's adversaries, including some lore. The very plain-looking font choice doesn't exactly pull me in atmospherically, but it's something. All told, the revamp is hardly one for the record books. But the fact that it exists in the first place is testament to Final Fantasy 11's eye-widening endurance. While it's almost certainly getting a remake, or anything close to that effect, Square does a great job keeping it going.
