Every Pokemon Included In New Adidas Originals Collection

Pokemon’s 30th anniversary celebrations continued over the weekend via the reveal of an extensive new collection coming our way courtesy of adidas. 12 Pokemon-themed sneaker designs have been revealed, giving some of the sneaker brand’s most iconic models Pocket Monster makeovers. Pikachu's Fluffy New Sneakers Even though there are 12 designs to choose from, all of which will be available to buy from this September, only nine Pokemon made the cut. That’s because the franchise’s mascot, Pikachu, has three pairs of sneakers to choose from, one of which is fluffy, just like the real thing. Well, how I imagine the real thing would feel since Pikachu, unfortunately, isn’t real. Yet. The Pikachu adidas Superstar 2s are the fluffy ones, complete with fluffy Pikachu ears sticking out of either side of the tongue. The adidas Superstar 2 mids are still very yellow but significantly less fluffy, and there’s a much more toned-down version of the regular Superstar 2s, in black and white and covered in a Pikachu print. Surprisingly, the fluffy sneakers might not be the most out-there design from the new collection. That award goes to the Charizard Superstar Vintage shoes. Orange and green to match the Fire-type’s color scheme, but with scaly orange wings sticking out of either side of the laces. Yes, these sneakers have wings - big ones. Charizard’s entire evolutionary line is represented in the new adidas range, as there are Charmander and Charmelon options too - wingless ones. More Superstar 2 designs for both with flames up the side on the off-white Charmander sneakers, and an off-white and Charmelon-red combo for its evolved form. The only other evolutionary line that’s represented in its entirety via the new collection is Gastly’s. Coincidentally, the adidas Control 5s decked out in Gastly colors are my favorite among the 12 options. Haunter has a similar, slightly more purple pair with spikes at the top of the tongue, while Gengar’s Adistar XLG 2.0s have the popular Ghost-type’s unmistakable red eyes on the outside of each sneaker. Gengar, Mewtwo, And More Two other Pokemon besides Pikachu have more than one design in the adidas Originals collection, and one of them is Mewtwo. The 151st Pokemon from that original 151 has some rather sleek ZX 8000s, as well as a pair of slightly more subtle Samba OGs that might well be my second favorite design from the 12 after the Gastly shoes. Last but most certainly not least is Rayquaza. There’s been a renewed focus on the Legendary Pokemon lately. Its first Lego set was released over the weekend, and its Mega Evolution is the star of Pokemon TCG Pocket’s new Ruler of the Skies expansion. Now the Dragon/Flying-type has two pairs of adidas sneakers based on its green and black design. All 12 designs in the collection will be released this September, likely through the adidas website and potentially at select adidas stores. Prices for the Pokemon anniversary footwear have not been revealed.
