Double that during midterm season. Labor Day is a great time to score a discounted pair, and right now, the full range of Apple AirPods is on sale—as are a number of Beats wireless earbuds and headphones. (As a reminder, Beats products live in the Apple family and feature a lot of the same tech.) But if you only click on one thing before firing up the grill this holiday weekend, make it the AirPods Pro 3, which are back under $200.We called these “pretty damn cool” when they landed last fall, and nearly a year later, they’re still the pair to beat. They’re a real upgrade over the last generation, with better active noise cancellation, a more comfortable fit, and richer sound. The ANC in particular does a great job of flattening the dull hum of an airplane engine and takes the edge off higher frequencies like nearby chatter, so you can focus in noisier environments.Part of what improves the ANC performance is the fit. The Pro 3 sit at a new angle that follows the shape of your ear canal, and Apple now includes more ear-tip sizes to help you find a seal. (Hopefully, one that won’t wiggle loose halfway through a run.) The earbuds also offer more bass and depth across the board, enough that you may notice your favorite songs sounding better than ever. You get around eight hours of playback with noise cancellation on, up to 24 hours with the portable MagSafe charging case, and an IP57 rating that can endure sweat and rain. There’s also a heart-rate sensor that tracks calories across 50-plus workout types in the Fitness app, plus a Live Translation feature that pipes real-time translations straight into your ear.If the Pro 3 are more than you need, the standard AirPods 4 are a solid entry-level option, offering deep iOS integration, spatial audio with head tracking, and voice isolation on calls, all in a lightweight open-fit design that ditches the silicone tips entirely. Step up to the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation—the pair I use every day—and you get noise cancellation and a wireless charging case that can play a chime when you misplace it.More AirPods and Beats Labor Day DealsApple AirPods 4 with ANCNow 17% OffApple AirPods Max 2Now 18% OffCredit: AppleBeats Studio ProNow 43% Off
